More Weekend Festivals in suburbs Chicago


You might have known the celebrations at Chicago Labor Arts Festival September 3 – 5, at the heart of Chicago. But there were also festive atmosphere in suburbs Chicago. It includes Armenian Fest. The 35th annual indoor-outdoor party features live music by the Hye Vibes. It provides affordably priced servings include $12 kebab dinners, homemade pastries, raffles. There was also a silent auction and kids games through Sunday, September 5, 5 p.m. It is free of charge and was held in St. Gregory Armenian Church, 6700 W. Diversey Ave.

People also enjoyed Art in Your Eye Fine Art Show and Festival. It is an outdoor fine art show featuring artists from around the country in a variety of media. The fest also includes children’s art activities, musical entertainment and an exhibition of work from students in the Student Legacy Project; through Sun. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat.; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sun.; free admission. Riverwalk, 100 N. Island Ave., Batavia.

There was also Chicago Summer Dance Festival: Dance to all types of music at the 14th annual, 11-week festival. Each event includes an hour of professional dance instruction on the alfresco floor followed by two hours of live music; through Aug. 29. 6 p.m. Thu.: Samba with Passistas Samba Dance Group; music by Chicago Samba. 6 p.m. Fri.: Salsa and cha-cha with Miguel Mendez and Michael Angelo Mendez; music by Samuel del Real y su Orquesta. Saturday had Mambo with Andy Cruz; music by Charanga Tropical. 4 p.m. On Sunday, there was Jive with Kasper Dance Studio; music by Lonny Lynn Orchestra; and it was free. Also on Sunday, The Grant Park performed Spirit of Music Garden, 601 S. Michigan Ave
