On Monday, September 6 2010, everyone was celebrating Labor Day, a national holiday honoring American workers and the symbolic start of fall. The following public services will be affected. All public schools in Chicago and surrounding suburbs will be closed. All city, county, state and federal offices will be closed. No regular mail pickup or delivery, except for Express Mail. Most post offices will be closed.
Well, Chicago Labor Arts may belong to those labors who wish to show their talents and perform their artistic appearance. This event is really lovable since everyone can enjoy the festive nuance of the festival itself. Some people, though, find out that spending a marvelous week during Chicago Labor Arts festival can consume lots of money. However, there are some things to do for free over Labor Day weekend.
Chicago Labor Arts is also the event what kids love very much. There are some places offering interesting activities for them. It includes free tickets on some amusement parks as well as other entertaining shows. Especially for kids ages 5-12, they can participate in a free kids’ workshop which was held on Saturday, September 4 from 10 AM to noon at Home Depot. Free Kids’ workshop is really entertaining as well as educating for children. There, they could show their creativity by building a wooden football stand. Workshops are free and include a free apron and other fun stuff. The free kids’ workshops took place from 9:00 a.m.-noon, and the kids leave with their project, an orange apron & an achievement pin.
Just in time for football season, this workshop will teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety through building a wooden football rack. All kids get to decorate and keep their crafts along with a kid-sized Home Depot apron and achievement pin.
