Families had many options for fun Chicago kid activities for the week of Friday, September 3 to Thursday, September 9, 2010. They had good time after planning ahead and reserved places at or buy tickets for the previous special book and toy events for this autumn. Mostly they checked out the best Labor Day sales on children’s toys and clothing in Chicago.
The biggest local toy event this weekend was the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago Clutch Powers Labor Day Minifigure Swap Spectacular. This was also the last weekend to visit the Bristol Renaissance Faire and shop for unique children’s toys at the Bristol Renaissance Faire 2010 Marketplace.
The free craft at Lakeshore Learning Stores this Saturday was to make a pop-up All About Me book. Meanwhile, the My Favorite Toy Store Art Fair continues through the end of September. Sunday, September 5 was the Fisher-Price Luv U Zoo Mommy Shower at Brookfield Zoo.
Last Tuesday, September 7, hundreds of kids participated in the free monthly mini model build at local LEGO stores. (All month, kids can enter the LEGO Store Mini Model Build Contest 2010.) Tuesday was also Raggedy Ann’s 95th anniversary, and Batman Story Time had participate Pottery Barn Kids stores. Additionally, the Summer Outdoor Creation Station set up at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago on Tuesday was about exploring natural elements.
Families also purchased tickets to LEGO KidsFest (coming to Chicago at the end of October) and had enter its Cool Creation competition for LEGO builders. For kids who wanted to get a special present for Grandparents’ Day or make a family keepsake has joined silhouette artist Karl Johnson’s portrait events at Chicago children’s toy stores. While The Magic Tree Bookstore had accommodated fans of Curious George or Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Fun contests opened for Chicago kids included the Land’s End Every Tee Tells a Story Contest, the K’NEXpert Building Challenge, the 2010 Cray-Pas Wonderful Colorful World Contest, the Crayola and Perdue We Bring Fun to the Table Contest, the Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest 2010, the Slinky vs. Etch A Sketch Film Festival, and the NERF Battle of the Ads Contest 2010. Playmobil Teachers Grant Program 2011 had also invited elementary educators.
