The latest celebration of Chicago Labor Arts in 2010 was indeed a joyful event. Chicago aviation officials stated there were 1.4 million passengers traveling through O’Hare and Midway international airports on Labor Day holiday weekend, September 4th 2010. The Chicago Department of Aviation said the number of travelers will remain the same through Tuesday. The busiest day was expected to be Friday, when more 211,000 passengers were expected at O’Hare and 70,000 at Midway.
American flags and other patriotic decorations were on display at the airports to celebrate Labor Day. There was live music performance at both airports to mark that weekend’s Chicago Jazz.
Chicago Labor Arts is indeed what everyone loves from this three-day weekend. The weather was also promising and no work on Monday is always a good thing no matter what happens outside. Most people headed north of the city a few miles to Union Square for the North Coast Music Festival. The music started on Friday, September 3, and continues until Sunday night, September 5th and the lineup was quite impressive for such a grass-roots festival.
North Coast Music Festival is often unheard of and flies under the radar of most Chicago residents. Only truly devoted musical fans are taking notice of the excitement that North Coast Music Festival is bringing to Chicago this summer. Look for headliners Damian Marley and Nas, The Chemical Brothers, and Umphrey’s Mcgee to put on an impressive show as always. However, some of the smaller stages was showcasing the up and coming artists from around the globe. There was a special Red Bull Local Stage this year featuring all the local talent trying to break through into the music scene and make it big.
Most of the attendants who were hunger for more music, they checked out the after-party schedule and follow your favorite artist to some late-night spots. Luxury chauffeur service was available for those who wanted to avoid the lines and chaos of public transportation.
